Record Store Day 2022 and Other Stuff

Feb 26, 2022 | News

At this writing, it’s the end of February. And that means we’re just a couple of months away from Record Store Day 2022: Saturday, April 23. We will work RSD the same way we have the past couple of years: Small groups of 6-10 people at a time prior to our opening to the general public. So here’s the scoop:

Send an email to popsresale@earthlink.net. Include your name and preferred contact. In the subject line, put RSD22. The deadline for signing up is Monday, 4/18 at noon. That day, sometime after noon,  all the names will go in a box. I’ll draw at random for time slots. When the slots are filled, I’ll contact everyone and let you know what time to come in on RSD. Depending on how many people sign up, the small group shopping will begin sometime between 9 and 10am. Each group will have between 20 and 25 minutes to peruse and purchase RSD titles. On RSD (4/23) we’ll open to the general public an hour later than normal; 12 noon instead of 11am. At that time, anyone can come by and shop as usual.

The usual rules apply. We are not allowed to hold records before-hand (RSD rules, not ours). Due to the limited number of records pressed for RSD, each person will be allowed to purchase one of each title (our rules, not RSD). It’s a good idea to peruse the official list so when you come in to shop on Record Store Day, you’ll have a pretty good idea of what you’re looking for. Please note that many of the titles are scheduled for release in mid-June!. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

In other March and April news/events…Monday, March 1 is the start of Women’s History Month. Then comes Sunday, March 13, which marks the beginning of Daylight Saving Time so remember to set your clocks forward an hour. St. Patrick’s Day is Thursday March 17.  March 20 is the Spring Equinox, when day and night are at equal lengths so the days start getting longer than the nights. Monday, March 21 is World Down Syndrome Day. It would be a great day to look at giving to DSACK (Down Syndrome Association of Central Kentucky), an organization that’s really close to my heart.

April brings us the start of the Lexington Farmer’s Market on Southland Drive on Sunday 4/3/22 (weather permitting). Junior and I are there most weeks. Easter is on Sunday the 17, followed by RSD on Saturday the 23 as noted. In between is the deadline to sign up for early RSD shopping….you gotta sign up by noon on Monday the 18.

That’s about it for the current news, ENJOY LIFE!!
