Saturday, June 18 is Record Store Day Drop 2. This will work the same way we’ve been doing it for a while now, with early small-group shopping prior to opening to the general public. To register, send an email to: [email protected] with “RSD-2” in the subject line. The deadline for sign-up is noon on Monday 6/13. Monday afternoon, after we draw at random for time slots, we’ll email you with what time you should come by on Saturday. As a reminder, the groups will be 6-10 people, with each group having 20-25 minutes to peruse and purchase titles.
There are just a couple of things to keep in mind. By contract with RSD, we are not allowed to take pre-orders, or to hold titles for people prior to June 18 (their rules, not ours). And while you can buy as many RSD titles as you wish, there is a strict limit of ONE OF EACH TITLE PER PERSON (our rules, not theirs). You can get a current list by going to www.recordstoreday.com.
Here are a few of the artists with records coming up for RSD:
- The Academic is dropping a 12”;
- Be Bop Deluxe has a 3-LP set;
- Billy Bragg is dropping a 30th anniversary “Life’s A Riot”;
- Jerry Garcia Acoustic Band releasing a 2-LP set;
- Glass Animals with a 12”;
- Elton John “Complete Thom Bell Sessions” EP;
- My Morning Jacket’s “Live From RCA Studio A” LP;
- Pearl Jam “Live on Two Legs” 2-LP set.
That’s just a very small taste of the releases. Check out the full list of artists and titles on-line. And remember, sign-up deadline is Monday, June 13 at noon!
